Week1-8_Progress_Zoe Hagins

For this project, I did a video that represents my coffee addiction. It's based on the Song Coffee By Jack Stauber. When I came up with the storyboard, I thought it would be best to do something very silly and simple because I was working in after effects, which at the time, is software that I never used before and because the theme that I'm doing is overall very light and silly.

Once I finished the storyboard, I started working on the scenes. I ended up with 16 scenes total including the opening and ending and I used Illustrator, Photoshop, and After Effects for all of the scenes.  I worked on the scenes that didn't have my character in the first because it was quicker and at the time I lost my Wacom pen so I couldn't work on them at home anyways.

I continued working on the easier scenes until it was time to put them into After Effects. I did the simple movement for all of the scenes since I was learning how to use After Effects. These are just some of the scenes I started working on first.

I was somewhat behind on progress because I was waiting for my new Wacom pen to come in the mail and because I missed a day in class because I got sick but eventually, the pen came in and I was able to work on more scenes.

Out of all of the scenes I did scene 7 and scene 4 was the hardest because in scene 7 I used the camera feature in After Effects and it was very difficult for me to use. Overall, I'm really bad at figuring out cameras in animation in general. So this was a challenge. Scene 4 was also difficult because I had to figure out how to make and insert a gif into After Effects, so I used Toon Boom to animate the character in this scene, exported the frames as a png, and then I imported the frames in photoshop and converted them into a gif. After that, I imported the gif into After Effects.

This is scene 7.

These are screenshots of the work I did for scene 4.\

After that, I exported all the scenes from After Effects and imported them into Premiere Pro. I edited some of the scenes to make them shorter because the music was shorter than the footage itself. The music that I used was an extended instrumental version of the song Coffee by Jack Stauber.

Then I exported a rough draft of the final video to make adjustments.
I made adjustments by making each clip shorter and added an opening and ending. Finally, I exported the final draft. Overall, I think I did a good job but there are some parts that are still out of sync. I uploaded the video to YouTube. This was a fun project and I learned how to do a lot of new things.
