Project 1_Tillman
These are very rough sketches of my storyboard. The theme I am focusing on is fantasy and storybook. For the animation, I was planning on making a 1:40 minute video about a fairy exploring around at night when she's not allowed. She meets a few animals that shy away from her until the end of the story. I most likely will change up this storyboard in the coming weeks. This storyboard is the beginning of the brainstorming period for my collage animation. Currently, I think I have a few too many elements that need to be hand-drawn so I will see how to alter the characters and backgrounds to my advantage.
I've included the picture of my progress below. Currently, I am practicing how to animate a butterfly in Adobe. I've modified photographs and images on Illustrator before exporting into After Affects.
I've created some character animations and scenes on Toom Boom that I will incorporate into After Effects.
Currently, my progress in After Effects is that I animated a butterfly in three-dimensions as well as the wings of a bumblebee. I will be finishing my backgrounds for this animation then placing these inclusions into the final animation.
Animation test for Part 1 and Part 2.
I created backgrounds for the animation and imported them into Toon Boom. Then, I altered the timing and some movements in After Effects.
For the butterflies, I composed multiple copies and gave each one unique movements. Then, I changed the color of each one to make them appear more fantasy-based in the background. I chose to make some butterflies slower than others to give the impression that they're flying at different paces.
I decided to keep some of the elements from my storyboard and changed the concept to a series of thematically-consistent fantasy and nighttime scenes. The butterfly in the story, which was helping the fairy fly, has escaped into the wild and enjoys its newfound freedom.
