I watched “Journey Through A Melting Brain” (The Stratacut of David Daniels). At first I couldn’t tell it was stop motion it was so smooth, I thought it had to be put through some computer program or videotaped to get those images. However, being given so many examples let me see the techniques better as well as different angles of the works to see the clay. I think that David Daniels technique of cutting into the clay to form different scenes is quite amazing yet simple in thought. It also makes for smooth animation due to it being in one block. Letting the eye follow the block around the screen however Daniels wants the audience to view it, it must take a lot of planning. I do like when clay dolls and other objects come into play with the blocks as it adds dimension though.
