Week 10_Response_Tillman
For my response, I chose the short film "Archie" on YouTube. I really enjoyed this animation and its ability to tell a story. It reminded me a lot of "Fantastic Mr. Fox" and "Isle of Dogs." One of the main things I enjoyed about the environment is the use of textures. The settings feel almost real and their dollhouse-like quality gives the short story an air of nostalgia. Meanwhile, the stop motion quality is also very impressive. Characters blink and feel alive in their world. The concept itself is also very entertaining. A human-like dog going on a journey with his own dog is a funny twist on previous cartoon tropes where anthropomorphic animal worlds have pets (like Mickey and Pluto). Overall, I thought the animation was quaint and quirky with a lot of lovely details.
