Week 6_Response_Julianna Tillman

For this response, I chose to review the Home Sweet Home short film. One thing that I loved in this film was the use of atmosphere to describe the character's emotions. The environment feels so alive and vivid. The colors in each scene perfectly describe the way the director wants the audience to feel about the characters. Meanwhile, I also enjoyed how the story was created without dialogue. The movements and "facial" expressions of the characters can be easily read and determined. The music becomes a source of expression as well. It sounds light and airy as the characters are travelling then sad and somber when the old house passes away. I think this story makes excellent use of the animation medium as well. The three-dimensional houses appear stylized but realistic. It creates the illusion of fiction in which the audience believes the journey could possibly take place in the real world. Overall, the short film was a wonderful tale where the fictional characters go on an emotional journey.
