Week_2_Response_Simons
This week, I wanted to respond to the "Metronomy - Love Letters" video. As a musician, this one was by far by favorite of this week's set of videos. From an art perspective, the set around the performers is very well made and designed. Viewing the performance through cut out portions of the hand painted set was an awesome idea. Oftentimes, music videos struggle to strike the balance between too boring and too abstract. This one finds that middle ground perfectly in my opinion. The overall aesthetic of the artwork fits really well with the song. The outfits do the same. Every color blends perfectly with the visuals and musical vibe the group has set. My favorite part of the entire video is definitely the movement of the keyboard. As a pianist, I was mostly watching the keyboardist throughout the video. In each window, he was facing a different direction, and it took me almost the entirety of the clip to realize his whole personal setup was rotating. That was a fun touch that added some visual intrigue to the scene. Overall, this is a solid blend of different artistic mediums.
