My review is for Michel Gondry’s Metronomy “Love Letters” video. I thought that the video had a unique combination of two-dimensional art, three-dimensional sculpture, and live-action video. The concept was imaginative and the colors used throughout the video allowed every image to appear distinctive but fit within a similar theme. I really enjoyed how well everything meshed together from the music to the mixed media production of the video. I kept thinking about how many artists it took to create every panel and fit it together with the backgrounds of the opposite side. The car panel, I believe, had the best use of forced perspective. You could almost suspend belief for a minute and imagine the singers inside of the vehicle in front of a green-screen or similar background. I wish that the video put a little more emphasis on the scene with the forest. I believe the artwork on the image was very well-done but it seemed more rushed compared to other panels. Overall, I really enjoyed the video and its use of both two-dimensional and three-dimensional art.
